Today's groom expects and is expected to take on a large and often times equal role in the planning of the big event. The days of the husband-to-be just showing up with a nice suit on and having no idea of what went into the planning are long gone. This is not to say that the groom's interests need to be the same as the bride's. This book will help the groom to choose what interests them and works well with their talents. If it is not picking out the table cloths to match the flowers, than it could be working on the menu or the invitations or even designing the wedding website. For the groom who wishes to be actively involved and not be limited by traditional wedding elements, the book will suggest ways to create a modern wedding. For example turning the focus to the enjoyment of the guests and thinking of the day as a big party, while still respecting the wishes of the families.

Two of my friends are getting married - to each other and this was the book I got the groom. It was a good light read with interesting information. He actually read it - so I guess it was a hit!
good and informative:
i bought this for my fiance. we are long distance and planning the wedding from a few countries away, so i thought that since he is a captive audience downrange i could send him any reading material i thought appropriate. i read this before i sent it to him, and i pretty much liked everything.
i hope that he reads it with an open mind. .. . . . right now he is thinking about having his manly man play and drinkfest with his friends the night prior to the wedding, and now he can read it in a book... more info
DON'T read this book! Do yourself a favor.:
There are some gems in this book-- don't get me wrong-- but overall, the author Doug Gordon comes of as a smug, elitist punk who just wants to recount stories from his own wedding.... If you want a good place to start for wedding traditions, look elsewhere. Try out "Weddings for Dummies"-- that has plenty of goods. This book should be called, "All the great wedding traditions, and how I've improved on them or thrown them out altogether." Valentine's gift:
I purchased this book for my fiance for Valentine's day this year. I felt like we was totally clueless with the whole wedding planning process and this book is written with fun and cuts straight to the point! It is an easy, humorous read. This is a great book for any soon-to-be grooms!
