Organizing Plain and Simple: A Ready Reference Guide with Hundreds of Solutions to Your Everyday Clutter Challenges (1580174485) - Reviews and Prices
Desk drowning in papers? No room for the car in the garage? Santa still sitting on the roof in May? A less-is-more philosophy is great, but we all still have way too much stuff. The home office swallows up whole rooms, as does the family computer station. Then there's the home gym, the TV room, and the playroom, not to mention our collections - books, CDs, toys. Time management experts agree that when the minor things that take up space in the mind are eliminated, there is room to think about the big things. The same goes for the home. The visual clarity that comes from de-cluttering rooms, finances, and time promotes mental clarity, peacefulness, and contemplation. When everything is organized, it is easier to enjoy the meaningful things in life.
Organizing Plain & Simple is like a course from an expert teacher, grounded in the fundamentals and enriched with philosophy, tips, anecdotes, illustrations - everything necessary to make home and life run more smoothly. Donna Smallin takes a personalized, nonjudgemental approach to explaining how to assess each individual's situation and suggesting where to start organizing - room by room - and then covers how to stay organized. Then she offers advice on organizing time and finances, as well as organizing for the seasons and for special events - the birth of a baby, combining households, a move, kids going off to college, successful downsizing. Smallin presents a broad range of innovative solutions in the running feature "One Challenge, Three Solutions" that includes tips for solving classic organizational issues from a wide range of professional organizers.

Common Sense:
I really enjoyed this book at first, but I never actually put what I read to use. Maybe it is due to the fact that I had already read most of what this book contains. It is all pretty common-sense stuff that you have probably heard of before, but if you don't have a reference like this, it is worth buying.
Useful book:
I found this to be a useful book on how to get organized, and I was already mostly organized anyway, but not being an expert in this area I was looking for help on how to improve and be even better. This book was good for that. I've seen several books on getting organized (unfortunately I don't recall the other titles) but this was the one I liked the best. Besides having useful tips for getting rid of and organizing all the clutter, it also has chapters on organizing your time, finances, work, home... more info
Great organizing reference book:
I found this book very useful while starting my career as a professional organizer. Smallin offers a complete resource for organizing everything from individual rooms to time to finances to estates. I like that she also offers do-it-yourself as well as store-bought solutions. She offers tips and various solutions for common problems as well as calls on other experts to share their advice. I particularly enjoyed the "One Challenge. Three Solutions." sections throughout the book. Here a challenge is... more info
space galore:
I found spaces in my small apartment that I didn't know I had. Excellent book.
Love my new, uncluttered look and I can finally find things.
