Solid construction and good UV intensity:
I purchased this for medical use, showing fluorescein staining in the eye. The light may appear dim, but this is because the visible light is filtered out. This light has good intensity in the ultraviolet range and is very effective at showing up areas of staining without visible light to wash out the results. It is used frequently and seems to hold up well. After using the first one, I purchased five more so we could put one in each of our examination rooms.
Good, but could be brighter.:
The UV light is of average brightness, and overall it seems like a sturdy, high-quality product. However, I subtracted 1 star because I found another UV pen light that is even brighter for half the price ($10 vs $19) - that product is a children's toy! It's strange that a cheap, plastic children's toy UV light should be brighter than a sophisticated-looking "adult" UV light. Good Penlight:
Streamlight always puts out a solid product. This one is solid and performs better then I thought. bought it a few months ago and the batteries still do not need changing. fits in my shirt pocket with ease and does not feel bulky. I bought it for a small lightweight light that performs. It's not a spot light but does what I need it to. comes with a plastic sleeve that helps pinpoint the light. Uses 3 AAAA batteries(yes four A's). Batteries included.

I have several different styles of the Stylus pen light products and you cannot buy a better or more rugged flashlight for gem and mineral work.
