Great little cooler for small space: 
I bought this unit several years ago to replace a different model that finally died. I've had four different units altogether and have learned a lot about what a swamp cooler can and cannot do in the past thirty years. It absolutely is intended only for low humidity areas. Check your weather online and it will tell you what your humidity is. Above 30%, they begin to lose their effectiveness. It's just a fan, not a cooler: 
This "Swamp Cooler" is nothing but a fan, with a water container. There is a piece of fabric at the back of cooler which should get soaked in water and cool the air down as it passes through. However, this fabric hardly absorbs water, and it is too thick that does not let the air flow through it. As a result, you have a portable water tank, with a fan that sucks air from openings around this fabric, without cooling it.
don't expect it to cool like a conventional ac:
Evaporative coolers are best suited for those who live in dry climates and even so, they do not cool as well as conventional air-conditioners. This portable evaporative cooler is best suited for small rooms when the conventional air conditioner is not adequate or not working properly. I've been using mine for 2 days now and it is adequate for my needs. I just overestimated how much cooling it would provide at first. seller good cooler bad.:
the swamp cooler did not even get near my expectations. i bought it thinking it might be more than a fan but i poured the right amount of ice and water in and all it was was a huge fancy fan that filters your air. but the thing is that when i returned it i shipped it friday from WA and it arrived in CA around tuesday and they returned my money right away for that i am very glad. thanks for being fair sellers. i will likely buy a real air conditioner from your sight soon.
