Big waste of money:
If you can get it to run, it's very noisy. I got it to run at first start once. Most times it took 1.5 to 2 hours to start. You have to wait 5 to 10 minutes between each try, so it was very aggravating having this unit occupy your time for up to 2 hours to get it to start. Not worth the money. Worst purchase I ever made. I only gave it one star because Amazon won't let me give no stars.
Great air conditioner:
We too have casement windows so choices are limited. At first, we didn't quite know how to install for our particular casements but we figured it out but adapting an old screen. I have had this unit now for over 2 years and it still works great. Some reviewers have mentioned the lack of switches on the unit, but I haven't found that to be a problem, there is a place for the remote on the unit so, that's where we keep it. Sharp has HORRENDOUS customer service.:
Ordered this and it arrived broken. Seven weeks later I still do not have a working unit as Sharp procrastinated on the repair, then decided that it had to be replaced, then sent the wrong unit. No one at customer service knows what's going on and I have to wait on hold for 40 minutes each time before someone tells me they'll call back -- and then they never do. Pathetic Packaging!! Adequate performance:
I am replacing a Sunpentown portable AC because of the noise it makes while running. This model intrigued me because of the 39db rating and the movable louvers. When received, the package wasn't damaged, but it was packed in some of the worse recycled cardboard on the planet!! The unit was set into a flimsy styrofoam (probably also recycled material) base that was all broken. The outside box was stapled to this flimsy base. Two straps held the base to the top.
