pros and cons:

I thought this program would be perfect for my do-it-yourself-er husband. We could visualize different scenerios for our home. We are still learning to use the program to its capacity, I have to admit. But the learning curve is a bit steep. We are pretty computer savvy people and we have had a hard time learning the program. We are getting better and better as time goes on. But you should be prepared to spend some time on it. It didn't help that we already ripped a chimney out and needed an action plan... more info

Dont be fooled:

I pruchased this software in hopes to help me design a workshop. Well you can forget that. Its primary purpose is to let you get kind of an idea what things may look like. It will not frame your house our building. The framing viewer is a joke. Since it cant do that very well the estimate is a joke. Almost all lumber is given in LF so it is useless in getting even a gross idea on the true cost of the materials.
If I could figure out how to get my money back I would.

Good program - requires patience to learn:

This is a good program that offers a lot of options for designing your
own home. One of the very nice features is the ability to have a
designer's overview, looking at what you designed in a 3-D view. Most
of the features are well labeled and easy to navigate (not to mention
a very complete help page), however, many of the details will require
patience and doing the research through the help section do
effectively use the program.
