For what it is, great:
I bought this for occasional use during Seattle heat waves, and it's in an area more than two times what it's suppose to cool. It can't keep 1000-1500 ft. cool when it's 90 outside, but if you play it smart, it can control temperatures in a space that size well enough to be comfortable, like the low 70's. For a really hot day you need to plan ahead. When the temperature falls in the evening, open up the house and get a blizzard going with multiple fans, pack the house with as much cool air as possible,... more info
it's just not good:
I was going through the reviews here and was chosing this unit based on the reviews. Looks like I got the last one and the seller isn't restocking it, probably for a reason. The unit comes on, then runs for about 10 minutes and then shuts the cooling off, goes back to fan mode. I have to turn it off for 15-20 minutes for the compressor to come back on more or less. I am extremely disappointed with it. Not saying that the other reviewers were wrong, but I probably got a lemon. The problem with any Air... more info
Is cooling my 1100 sq ft condo so far:
I researched this product like CRAZY!! My 1972 Central A/C compressor went out and we are approaching summer in FL. There was no fixing it and replacing the compressor would cost around $2k, maybe more because we live in a condo and our outside unit is on the roof. We are not staying in this house long and so I did not want to drop that kind of money in it. Our association does not allow window units and, while I wouldn't necessarily let that stop me, our windows were not suitable for a heavy unit. Let... more info
Good little unit:
This Unit does pretty well for the price. For those of us with windows that do not fit well with regular AC units, this is a good alternative. There are three adapter plates that fit together to fill the rest of the window opening, it will fill an opening approximately 5 feet high by 8" wide, or an area 5 feet wide by 8" high. You attach the hoses to the unit, and then attach the plates to the other end of the hoses.
You open your window, then put the plates into the window, and close the... more info
